Perry of Crafts by Perry's Mom

The inspiration for the company name came from my beloved (and incredibly spoiled) cat Perry.

In November of 1997 I decided that I wanted a pet to keep me company. I am actually a "dog" person, but the apartment complex I was living in at the time did not allow dogs. I decided to check for a cat and, to keep a long story short, ended up at the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL).

I went on my lunch hour and saw a cat sitting on one of the counters in "Cat Room #1". Something about this cat (other than he's gorgeous) seemed to draw me to him. I looked at the other cats they had (over 40 of them at the time -- they don't put them to sleep if they can't find a home) but I found myself back in front of this orange tabby.

I went out and asked a little about this cat. They told me he was male, roughly 2 years old, his name was Perry, and he had no tail! MARL was called to rescue Perry in September 1997 because some evil, horrible person(s) had set his tail on fire. The tail was so badly burned that they had to amputate most of it. I hadn't even noticed as he had his feet tucked under him and I had assumed his tail was just tucked close to his body.

Events that happened over the following week left me with no doubt that God had brought this wonderfully loving cat and myself together. Perry continues to delight me with his antics and love.

In order to keep a true perspective of one's importance, everyone should have a dog that will worship him and a cat that will ignore him. -- Dereke Bruce
